Sometimes you have to try something new and see how it goes. I am not one for following quilt patterns. As someone who primarily makes t-shirt quilts, I mainly make my own patterns based on the t-shirts I have to make something completely unique and custom. However, I came across this Diagonal Strip Quilt Tutorial from Cluck Cluck Sew this summer and knew I wanted to try it. Her instructions were easily to follow and resulted in a beautiful quilt. I was worried about all the seams lining up, but it all worked out surprisingly well. Also, since it's such a busy pattern my seams that didn't quite line up are not noticeable. I used two "Unicorn Kingdom" by Riley Blake jelly rolls for this project. I made 12 tubes total and made my quilt 7 x 10 because I like quilts with a little extra length. I will definitely use this quilt pattern again!
This is a slightly belated Christmas present for a unicorn and pink loving eleven-year-old. I hope she loves it as a much as I do!
